Grúz egyházi delegáció látogatása

November 21-én grúz egyházi delegáció látogatott Pannonhalmára, melynek vezetője Theodore Chuadze, Akhaltsikhe és Tao-Klarjeti metropolitája volt. Rajta kívül Gerasim Sharashenidze, Saba Zaza Gigiberia, Amiran Gvazava metropoliták és Gia Zviadadze protopresbiter érkezett a főapátságba. A vendégek megtekintették a monostort, a kincstárt, a bazilikát, ahol egy rövid orgonakoncertet is meghallgathattak, részt vettek a napközi imaórán és együtt ebédeltek a bencés közösséggel. A levéltárban Dénesi Tamás, a könyvtárban Ásványi Ilona kalauzolta őket.

The Visit of a Georgian Church Delegation

On 21 November, a Georgian church delegation visited Pannonhalma led by Theodore Chuadze, the Metropolitan of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti. He was accompanied by Metropolitans Gerasim Sharashenidze, Saba Zaza Gigiberia, Amiran Gvazava and Protopresbyter Gia Zviadadze in the Archabbey. Our guests were shown around in the monastery, the treasury, and the Basilica where they could listen to a short organ recital, they attended the Midday Office, and they had lunch with the Benedictine community. In the Archives they were guided by Tamás Dénesi, and in the Library by Ilona Ásványi.

A Görögkatolikus Múzeumban jártunk

Az Egyházi Muzeológusok Egyesülete, az Országos Katolikus Gyűjteményi Központ és az Országos Egyházművészeti és Műemléki Tanács november 16-án Nyíregyházán, a Görögkatolikus Múzeumban tartotta szakmai napját. Az ország különböző pontjairól érkező szakemberek Szabó Irén igazgató vezetésével megtekintették a múzeum kiállításait és kötetlen eszmecsere során ismerhették meg a múzeum létrejöttét, gyűjteményeit, terveit. Terdik Szilveszter a Papnevelő Intézet kápolnájában, majd az újonnan kifestett Belvárosi Görögkatolikus Székesegyházban kalauzolta a kollégákat.

Bazilika 800 – Novák Katalin látogatása

A Pannonhalmi Főapátság Szent István korában épült templomát 1137 előtt egy tűzvész következtében fel kellett újítani. A II. Béla és Dávid apát idején történt restaurálást az 1210-es években újabb nagyszabású építkezés követte. Uros apát temploma éppen nyolcszáz éve, 1224-ben készült el és II. András jelenlétében szentelték fel.

Basilica 800 – Katalin Novák’s Visit

2023. november 15.

Due to a conflagration, the church of the Pannonhalma Archabbey built in the age of Saint Stephen had to be restored before 1137. The restoration that took place in the period of Béla II and Abbot David was followed with another large-scale process of construction in the 1210s. The church of Abbot Uros was completed just 800 years ago in 1224, and it was consecrated in the presence of King Andrew II.

Levéltári nap Győrben

2023. október 26.

A XXV. Győri és XI. Kisalföldi Levéltári Nap október 25-én a Brenner János Hittudományi Főiskola dísztermében került megrendezésre. A szakmai napon levéltárunk igazgatója Bencés testamentumok a 17–18. századból címmel tartott előadást. Regulájuk szerint a bencéseknek szerzetesi fogadalmuk előtt rendelkezniük kellett örökölt vagyonukról. Dénesi Tamás előadásában az 1661 és 1778 közötti időszakból fennmaradt testamentumok segítségével ismertette a rendbe lépők társadalmi hátterét, kapcsolatrendszerét, műveltségét, spiritualitását. Archivists’ Day in Győr

2023. október 26.

The 25th Archivists’ Day in Győr and the 11th Archivists’ Day of the Little Plain was held in the ceremonial hall of Brenner János Theological College on 25 October. The Director of our Archives gave a talk entitled Benedictine Wills from the 17th–18th Centuries. According to their Rules, Benedictine monks had to dispose of their inherited wealth prior to their vows. In his talk, based on wills from the period between 1661 and 1778, Tamás Dénesi discussed the social background, the scheme of connections, education, and spirituality of those who joined the Order.

JESUIT – PRAY – CODEX

In honour of the 250th anniversary of the dissolution of the Jesuit Order and the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Jesuit historian, György Pray, a two-day conference was organised by the ELTE University Library and Archives, the National Széchényi Library, the Institute of History, and the Province of the Society of Jesus in Hungary in Budapest.

Jezsuita - Pray - Kódex

2023. október 9.

A jezsuita rend feloszlatásának 250. és Pray György jezsuita történész születésének 300. évfordulója tiszteletére az ELTE Egyetemi Könyvtár és Levéltár, az Országos Széchényi Könyvtár, a Történettudományi Intézet és a Jézus Társasága Magyarországi Rendtartománya közös szervezésében kétnapos konferenciát tartottak Budapesten.

Ferencesek a pannonhalmi levéltárban

2023. október 9.

Október 4-én, Assisi Szent Ferenc ünnepén a pasaréti ferences kolostor szerzetesei Pannonhalmára látogattak. A kirándulás keretében megtekintették a főapátságot, annak könyvtárát és levéltárát, kötetlen beszélgetésen vettek részt és együtt zsolozsmáztak a bencés közösséggel. Programjukat pincelátogatás zárta.

Franciscans in the Archives of Pannonhalma

2023. október 9.

On 4 Oktober, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the friars of the Franciscan convent of Pasarét visited Pannonhalma. During their day here, they visited the Archabbey, its Library and Archives, they had an informal conversation with the Benedictine community, and they attended the Divine Office. As the conclusion of their programme, they visited the wine cellar.

A Conference on Diocesan History in Veszprém

2023. október 2.

On 28 September 2023, the tenth conference on diocesan history was organised at the Archiepiscopal College of Veszprém. This time, the talks concentrated on the history of the Bishopric of Veszprém between 1850 and 1917. The conference was one of the series of programmes of the Katolikus Társadalmi Napok (Days of Catholic Society) organised in Veszprém this year.

A konstantinápolyi pátriárka levéltárunkat is felkereste

2023. szeptember 27.

I. Bartholomaiosz pátriárka a Pannonhalmi Főapátság meghívására szeptember 20-án hatnapos látogatásra hazánkba érkezett. Látogatásának középpontjában kifejezetten az ökumenikus és vallásközi párbeszéd, illetve a béke építése állt. Ő tartotta a „Keresd a békét, és járj utána!” mottóval Pannonhalmán, szeptember 22-én megrendezett nemzetközi ökumenikus konferencia főelőadását.

The Patriarch of Constantinople Visited Our Archives

2023. szeptember 27.

Accepting the invitation of the Archabbey in Pannonhalma, Patriarch Bartholomew I arrived in Hungary for a six-day visit on 20 September. His visit distinctly concentrated on ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue, in addition to promoting peace. He gave the main address of the international ecumenical conference – with the motto “Seek peace and pursue it!” – organised in Pannonhalma on 22 September.

Nemesi emigráció-workshop, Budapest

2023. szeptember 20.

A kora újkori magyar nemesi emigrációt vizsgáló kutatócsoport nemzetközi konferenciája szeptember 21-én lesz az ELTE BTK Múzeum körúti campusán. A kutatócsoport a Magyar Királyságból az Erdélyi Fejedelemségbe, Lengyelországba, Franciaországba irányuló migráció jellegzetességeit és okait kutatja, emellett a fejedelemségből elsősorban Bécsbe, lengyel, oszmán és román területek felé történő migrációs folyamatokat, ezek anyagi, társadalmi és politikai körülményeit vizsgálja.

Két kéziratos térkép restaurálása

A nyár folyamán az NKA támogatásával térképtárunk két kéziratos térképe újult meg. Az egyik 1799-ben készült, a felvidéki füssi erdőről, illetve a Duna két szigetéről, a Változó- és Merítő-szigetről. A másik térkép 1822-es, a bakonybéli apátság erdeit és legelőit ábrázolja. A restaurálást az Ars Alba Bt. végezte, Szentendrén.

The Conservation of Two Autograph Maps

2023. szeptember 11.

During the summer, with the support of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary, two autograph maps of our collection of maps were conserved. One of them was made in 1799 depicting the forest of Füss in Upper Hungary, and two islands of the Danube (Altering and Scooping islands). The other map of 1822 depicts the forests and pastures of the Abbey in Bakonybél. The conservation was completed by Ars Alba Bt. in Szentendre.

Wine Culture on Church Estates

2023. szeptember 1.

During the Days of Wine-history in Győr, professional discussions were organised by Mathias Corvinus Collegium on Chapter Hill on 25 August. In the last panel, the tradition of vine-growing and viticulture on estates of bishoprics and those of religious orders was recalled by Gábor Nemes (Diocesan Archives, Győr) and Tamás Dénesi (Director, Archives of the Archabbey, Pannonhalma). The discussion of spirit was concluded with an informal exchange of ideas and wine-tasting.
