The Companion Volume to the Facsimile Edition of the Liber Ruber Has Been Published

The facsimile edition of our Liber ruber – a book of copied charters originally written in 1240 – was published a year ago; Archabbot Cirill presented a leather-bound copy of it to Pope Francis on January 27. This autumn, the companion volume to the facsimile was also published, edited by Kornél Szovák and Gyula Mayer.

The volume contains Gábor Sarbak’s study on the cartulary, as well as Kornél Szovák’s introduction outlining the principles of the text edition, in both English and Hungarian. This is followed by a critical edition of the texts of the charters contained in the codex. The publication concludes with high-quality images of the certificates.

The facsimile and its accompanying volume were published as part of the Bibliotheca Collegii Professorum Hungarorum book series, resulting from the collaboration between the Makovecz Campus Foundation, the Archives of Pannonhalma Archabbey, and Pytheas Book Manufactory.

The publication was presented by historian and academician László Solymosi on November 21 in Piliscsaba.
