Itinerary Congress for Church Archivists and Museologists in Pápa

The associations of ecclesiastical collections hold their annual three-day itinerary congress at the beginning of summer. The Association of the Hungarian Church Archivists (MELTE) and the Museologists’ Association of Christian Churches (EME) – as usual – organised together a shared conference in Pápa this year as well. The programme of almost 80 participants was housed by the Scholarly Collections of the Transdanubian Reformed Church District between 26 and 28 June.

All members of our Archives and Museum collectively took part in the conference. On the first day, as usual, the associations held their general assembly, then they visited the hosts’ collections and exhibitions, yet there was an opportunity for guided sightseeing as well. The programme’s official part was concluded with a reception in the Pannonia Reformata Art Museum.

On Thursday, the museologists and the archivists attended joint presentations in the morning, the two associations took part in separate professional programmes in the afternoon that included a joint visit to monuments in Pápa.

On Friday, again together, we made an excursion. First, we visited Türje, where Nagy Veronika art historian (head of the Archdiocese’s Blessed Gisella Collection) showed us the restored Premonstratensian provostal church and the results of the restoration, then she also guided us around in Sümeg. Here, we were shown round in the also restored episcopal palace, then we visited the Franciscan church and the parish church.
