Lónyay 200

Within the framework of the commemorative year of Lónyay 200 announced on the occasion of the 2nd centenary of the birth of Menyhért Lónyay, a conference entitled Lónyai-Sources was held on 29 August 2022 in Nyíregyháza organised by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Archives, the local branch of the Hungarian National Archives. The programme’s aim was to make a survey of the repositories of the archival sources related to the history of the Lónyay family.

The participants of the programme took part in a virtual journey from Nyíregyháza to Beregszász and from Sárospatak through Budapest to Pannonhalma by virtue of the presentations of the archivists of the institutions in which you can reach these sources. One of the presentations entitled “Lónyay-Archives or Lónyay Papers?” was made by Zoltán Boros discussing the papers, which Elemér Lónyay and his wife, Stefanie, Belgian royal princess bequeathed to the Benedictine Order.
