Church Archivists’ Itinerary Conference in Budapest


The Association of Hungarian Church Archivists (MELTE) held its annual itinerary conference at D50 Cultural Centre and Hotel between 20 and 22 June. On the Monday ordinary meeting, we decided on the change of the association’s name. Henceforth, the name of our association: Association of Hungarian Church Archivists. On the general meeting for election of officials, Dénesi Tamás, the Director of the Archabbey’s Archives was elected to serve as a member of the Association’s executive committee. We were given professional presentations on Tuesday, and we were introduced to professionally relevant institutions in Budapest on Monday and Wednesday. We visited the National Museum Conservation and Storage Centre (OMRRK), the Central European Research Institute for Art History (KEMKI), the new building of the Museum of Ethnography, the collection of the Petőfi Literary Museum, the Pauline Library of the Central Seminary, and the Inner-City Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The programme was concluded in the Central Library and Archives of the Hungarian Province of the Order of Piarists. The detailed programme of the conference is available here.
