The Itinerary Congress of Church Archivists in Eger
Between 30th June and 2nd July, in Eger, the annual itinerary congress and conference was organised by the Association of the Hungarian Ecclesiastical Archivists, the Museologists’ Association of Christian Churches and the Hungarian Alliance of Archivists of Higher Education. On Monday, the associations held their general assembly, and the heads of the archives of higher education had a roundtable talk. On Tuesday, a scholarly conference was held. On Wednesday, the participants visited Feldebrő and Gyöngyös.
In the conference organised in the Archiepiscopal Seminary, the state of the actual research of university and church history were discussed, and many diocesan museums were also introduced to the participants. The conference concentrated on the Basilica of Eger and its restoration completed in 2024, the questions of maintaining the university and church archives, and the latest developments of matricula.hu (the online research site in the church archives of Hungary). During the first two days, the participants could visit the collections of the Archdiocese of Eger and the churches of the town.
